Originally from Ayr, Ontario, Kelsey Woods is a first-year graduate student at Lesley University, completing a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Dance/Movement Therapy. Since beginning dance at the age of three, Kelsey’s passion for the art form has only grown stronger and more expansive. Kelsey is a graduate from The School of Toronto Dance Theatre’s Professional Training Program. At The School, she had the privilege of working with some of Canada’s prominent choreographers. During her time in Toronto, Kelsey pursed dance in a performative capacity and has performed work by various independent choreographers. Through a joint program with The School of Toronto Dance Theatre, Kelsey completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at York University. As a result of her studies and training, Kelsey has become increasingly intrigued by the interconnection of the emotional, cognitive, physical, social, and spiritual aspect of a person’s being. She believes these different layers of human experience can be accessed through the act of embodied, creative movement. Combined with a desire to support people, this led her to pursuing Dance/Movement Therapy. Kelsey is passionate about building trusting relationships with individuals and fostering personal expression through movement explorations. Kelsey is eager to learn from and work alongside mental health professionals, gain experience, and develop her abilities as a future clinician in the mental health field.
