Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States, James moved to Canada more than 9 years ago to make a life in Ontario with his then-fiancée. He graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and has completed his course work for his Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, to become a Registered Psychotherapist.
James has a passion for volunteering. He has worked and volunteered in the social services field with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Children’s Aid Society, Movement Church and Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). Volunteering with these organizations truly affirms his belief that providing support and hope is a tremendously rewarding act.
The wisdom gained from the adversity and experiences he has faced in his own life provides a greater understanding and empathy in supporting people. James is rooted in attachment and trauma training. He uses treatment modalities, such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Circle of Security, and Narrative therapy to support his clients. James is also working on his EMDR training.
James is a single father of a sweet little 6-year-old girl with whom he spends most of his time playing, swimming, and doing arts and crafts. In his free time, he loves being active at the gym and engages in sports like football, basketball, baseball, and golf. He also enjoys spending time with friends from his men’s bible study group.
