Tina Smith, BSW, MSW, RSW
Tina Smith is a Registered Social Worker, Certified EMDR Therapist, EMDRIA Approved Consultant, and Certified Gottman Educator for couples. Tina has developed a clinical team of skilled therapists that utilize a prescriptive approach to psychotherapy to further serve those that are suffering.
Tina specializes in trauma and attachment treatment for children, youth and adults. Tina continues to participate in both ongoing individual and group consultations with experts within the field to ensure she continues to support her clients effectively. Throughout the year Tina receives educational training that allows her to continue developing her skills in various therapeutic approaches.
Tina provides a listening and helpful environment for people as she works together with her clients to find peace and harmony. She has met many people going through various struggles and came to
understand that everyone has the capacity to change when they dedicate themselves to doing something different. Tina sincerely believes in HOPE for everyone whom strives hard at making a difference in his or her life. Tina has gained skills and training throughout her professional career in various clinical organizations since 1998. Tina has practiced with youth in conflict with the law in the community and in-custody facilities providing both individual and group counselling. Tina has worked with Children’s Aid Society and not-for-profit agencies, such as Community Options for Justice, and OCYC (now formally called OECYC) providing support to children, youth and their families. Since 2005, Tina has been providing individual, marriage and family counselling for various ages in a private practice setting in Woodstock. Tina has provided insight, tools and strategies to individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, and stress. She has assisted couples in healing from conflicts, affairs, and finding restoration in their relationship. Tina has provided counselling and psychotherapy for families with teenage struggles, suicidal ideation, attempted suicides, grief from the loss of a child, trauma, concerns about child functioning at home and/or at school, communication difficulties within families, blended family concerns, generational conflict between families, and relationships with in-laws. Tina specializes in a trauma-based psychotherapy; where she has helped individuals suffering with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and those wanting healing after trauma.
After returning to work in 2010 from a leave of absence after her son was diagnosed with High-Risk Leukemia she began to realize that she wanted to pursue a practice of her own that would allow for a balance between doing what she loves (counselling and psychotherapy) and being able to ensure her children and husband remain her most important passion. In 2011, that dream came to fruition.
Tina has lived in Oxford County since 1997. Tina is blessed to share her life with her husband and their three amazing children.
