I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor with over 20 years of experience working in the field providing counselling and psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, and families. I hold a Bachelor degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology and am a certified member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I have worked for community counselling agencies, post-secondary institutions (both colleges and universities), employee assistance programs, and in private practice and consulting.
I work from a client-centred approach, incorporating a variety of theoretical approaches in providing support to clients dealing with a variety of concerns, some of which include anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, abuse, addictions, grief, anger, career concerns, and relationship difficulties.
I engage in ongoing professional training and development to maintain my designation as a Canadian Certified Counsellor and some of my background includes tragic response and critical incident debriefing, administering various career/vocational assessment tools, suicide awareness and prevention, and Mental Health First Aid. I have lectured/taught at the post-secondary level, both at colleges and universities within Ontario.
I adhere to ethics and standards of professional practice as outlined by the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association and work as a clinician from a strengths-based perspective in addressing the challenges and difficulties faced by clients. I strongly believe that using the client’s unique abilities and strengths is key to the individual being able to experience change and growth, as I work together with them to meet their goals for therapy.
